small crowd, good times

Friday june 2

Earlier in the day Pam mentioned something about the iron horse as what was planned for the night. There was a failed attempt by Pat to get some people together for some ultimate frisbee at the Leg. grounds so i thought i would accept Pam's invitation for a ride to Whyte. The rest of the crew either had some other plans or was playing poker.

As i was waiting for Pams mom to pick me up i worked on a post, the night that involved us taking out the Ducks. Jessie informed me that we would be leaving around 9:30 so i had some time to have some beers on my own. In total i had three beers before i left my house, i ended up leaving at a little after 10. Jessie had already been picked up so we were on our way to pick up Brenna.

Pam calls her contacts and we find out that we are no longer going to the Ironhorse. The four of us decide that Devlins would be a good place to get started. Plus i was in the mood for some tasty martinis. There was no problem getting or finding a place to sit. It would appear that whyte was not a busy as previous nights. I guess people were all partied out from all the oiler parties (riots). We all started with some 3oz martinis, and before we know it we had downed 3 in a little over 20 minutes. Soon after we get there Chantel meets us. I'm not sure of her relationship but i think she worked with Pam and Brenna at some point it was the first time i would meet her. Coupled with the effect of the beer, i was feeling pretty cut after the 3 drinks. Judging by the way the girls walked it was evident that they were well on their way to being drunk as well. At one point we see Boris Boras (coz of almedia brothers)walk by. We exchange a handshake and a breif conversation about how unreliable the almedia brothers are with their phones. "They don't even answer or return their calls for me either, and I'm family" - Boris. Almedia brothers pick up your goddamn phones. We figure we have had enough martins and decide to hit up a good old pub.

For some reason there was a line out front, it would seem that O'byrnes tonight would be the only place with a line. The wait, thankfully, was a short one. Inside i run into Britney and Olivia, they are mentioned briefly in the beergardens post. The bar wasn't terribly busy inside, there really was no reason to keep a line out front. The point of making a stop at a pub tonight was so i could get some guiness. Pam drinks her vodka tonic, and brenna and chantel drink some girly fruity drinks i got them. Though i admit they tasted pretty good when i asked for a sample. During our stay there pam and chantel would spend most of their time on the dance floor. As usual whenever we go to o'byrns and jessie is with us someone will request jessies girl. Kinda lame i know but it gets jessie onto the dance floor and its a song that people generally have fun with. We are probably there an hour and pam says she wants to go somewhere she can really dance.

The walk from o'byrns to wollys was pretty long. I don't remember much about the walk except that i think i accidently kicked some girls dog outside marble slab. The crowd at wollys was pretty good, not too packed inside. As i walk in i see a guy with some dumb hat on his head holding a blowup doll that was partially deflated. The guys eyes were half open he looked like he was going to pass out. The girls headed straight to the dance floor, i decided that i wouldn't want anymore beer to drink for the night. I go to the bar and ask for a vodka redbull but they don't have red bull, instead they have some sort of imitation redbull in a can with some foreign language, thai i think. The stuff tasted pretty much like redbull but was probably a lot cheaper. Dancing isn't really my thing so i wander the bar as the rest of them get crazy on the dance floor. Downstairs is another dance floor but it was completely empty except for some guy and his buddy trying to break dance. Jessie came downstairs and sat down looking all mopey and shit. I think he had enough to drink at this point. We decide to wander outside with brenna and chantel. During the night i guess some of chantels friends were supposed to meet us but none of them showed up, someone ended up picking her up while we were outside. Pam was still inside dancing with some dude she met on the dance floor. I went back inside to tell her we were waiting outside for her. Eventually she came out and we would try and find a cab.

For some reason we walked back to whyte from wollys, and headed west. I'm not sure of the time but it must have been around when all the bars were letting out. I was hungry so we went to pita pit. I got a pita for myself and one for jessie. Jessie never did eat the one i got him, instead brenna would eat most of it and leave some of it on a bus stop bench outside pita pit. We continue west down whyte and try to find a cabbie to take us home. Eventually we end up by the mac's and still no cab. When we come to the intersection at 109st we walk north towards the high level bridge. I'm not sure why we thought going in this direction would get us a cab but here we were walking aimlessly. We happen to find a shopping cart and jessie gets in. I'm riding on the front while Pam is pushing us as fast as she could down the sidewalk. Surprisingly we were not involved in any accident. Eventually we end up walking to Keegans parking lot, which has happened to us more then once. Some people were getting out so we hopped in before the cabbie could deny us a ride home. Overall a good night, not often do we go out in a small group so it was a nice change of pace, but really there isn't anything like getting drunk and rowdy with a crowd of 15 of your closest friends.
